Welcome to ""Maison Ginette"", our family home located in Sauzelle on the Ile d'Oléron.

Why Maison Ginette? We bought this house abandoned for 10 years by my uncle following the death of my aunt Ginette...so here is the story of the name of this house.

Throughout the renovation in 2023, we had in mind to create a house with a unique and warm decor, easy to live in and where nothing is missing for a successful vacation: an ideal setting for stays with family or friends.

Upon your arrival, you will be charmed by the large 1200m2 wooded and enclosed garden that surrounds the house. This outdoor space will allow you to fully enjoy the good weather and relax in complete tranquility.

Children can have fun in complete safety in the fully enclosed garden.

The spacious and bright house is composed of a living area and a sleeping area

• The sleeping area is composed of:

4 beautifully decorated bedrooms equipped with new, comfortable bedding (160*200), guaranteeing a good night's sleep.
The 2 interior bathrooms are modern and functional.

A large entrance and a separate toilet complete this space

• The day area is made up of:

A living room adjoining the kitchen welcomes you with its 2 comfortable sofas, its connected TV, its board games to meet up with family or friends at the end of the day.

A fully equipped kitchen will allow you to prepare delicious meals with local products that you can find in the surrounding markets.

You can then enjoy them on the family table designed for 8 people.

But if the weather is good, you can enjoy the outdoor terrace for your meals: from breakfast to dinner...

The exterior

• The terrace

  On the large wooden terrace , adjoining the kitchen, you will find a large table for 8 people protected from the sun by a coconut shade sail, a wooden pergola fitted with 2 bamboo sofas, comfortable cushions, and finally a mini bar with a gas plancha.

The terrace is lit by wicker lights and a guinguette-style garland: a "cool" place for your summer evenings.

• The heated swimming pool and the garden

The swimming pool surrounded by wood is perfectly secure with its sliding wooden terrace. It guarantees you total peace of mind with your children . The wooden terrace acts as a total cover and is very easy to use; just push the terrace slightly and HOP! the swimming pool is closed and it is also very aesthetic.

You can relax by the heated swimming pool in season (from mid-May to mid-September)   , perfect for cooling off on hot summer days at the beach or for swimming anyway if the weather is a little gloomy.

An outdoor bathroom with shower and toilet, next to the swimming pool, will allow you to shower "in the open air" but out of sight.

The illuminated bowling alley will allow you to play "until the end of the night" if you feel like it.

Parking for 2/3 vehicles is available inside the enclosure.

THE SITUATION

"Maison Ginette" is located in the commune of St Georges d'Oléron in Sauzelle , "Village du sel" one of the oldest and most typical villages on the Île d'Oléron with its narrow streets lined with hollyhocks.

The house is set back from the road in a very quiet environment but close to all amenities.

You can reach the Gautrelle beach which is the closest beach in 5 minutes by bike with its unique view of Fort Boyard and the island of Ré; perhaps the most beautiful beach on the island of Oléron?

You will find all the useful shops in St Pierre d'Oléron 5 minutes away by car (Leclerc, Super U, Lidl...),

"Chez Patoche" the bakery in Sauzelle is a 2-minute walk from the house, it also has a small, well-stocked grocery store and a newsagent.

The visits

The Ile d'Oléron is full of activities and discoveries to make;

You can indulge in the pleasures of the beach, go for a bike ride to discover the salt marshes (many cycle paths starting from the house), visit the typical villages of the island or even taste the delicious oysters of Marennes-Oléron.

Don't miss a visit to the famous Chassiron lighthouse which offers breathtaking views of the ocean and the surrounding coasts.

Nature lovers will be delighted by the many species of birds to observe.

Finally, for water sports enthusiasts, the Ile d'Oléron offers numerous possibilities: surfing, puddle diving, sailing, fishing, shore fishing...There is something for all tastes and all ages.
